Central Election Commission of Russian Federation held 145th meeting

On 28 February 2018 the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation held its regular meeting.

Chairperson of the CEC of Russia Ella Pamfilova reported that as of 28 February 2018 applications for inclusion in the list of voters at the actual location during the election of the President of the Russian Federation were filed by 1,306,800 citizens. They will be able to vote at their chosen polling station on the election day.

The sensitization campaign led by the CEC of Russia with regional election commissions enters its third phase on 1 March 2018. A new motto of the sensitization campaign will be "By choosing the President we choose our future".

25 February has seen the start of early voting in remote and inaccessible regions. As of today, 2,900 voters in nine regions participated in early voting.

Ella Pamfilova: "The Information and Reference Center of the CEC of Russia has received more than 48,700 calls. More than 80 per cent of these calls are devoted to the procedure of voting at the place of location".

Member of the CEC of Russia Sergey Sirotkin reminded that, according to the current legislation, registered candidates can participate in debates in person only. A candidate can refuse to participate in debates only in cases of illness or official duties.

Member of the CEC of Russia Vasily Likhachev: "The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation informed us about creation of 15 additional polling stations in seven foreign countries. Four polling stations were created in Belarus and four in Germany, two in Spain and Uzbekistan each, one in Abkhazia, Greece and Israel each. Thus, 400 polling stations on the territory of 145 countries, including seven on the territory of Baikonur, were formed outside the territory of the Russian Federation".
