On 24 March 2021 the final meeting of the CEC of Russia of the 2016-2021 composition was held. The Chairperson of the CEC of Russia, Ella Pamfilova, thanked her colleagues for their work and spoke about the results of the Commission's activities over the past five years.
"I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to all my colleagues for the five years that we have been together. These were difficult years, full of major campaigns and other serious events," said Ella Pamfilova in her speech. "We have conducted three major federal campaigns and more than 36 thousand campaigns at all levels during these five years. We worked in the interests of the voters, and therefore found solutions that allowed us to move forward."
The Chairperson of the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation noted that the electoral system has undergone qualitative changes over the past five years:
"We have ensured the legitimacy of the elections. It was necessary to change the attitude of people to the elections. The increased level of trust can be fragile. It is not constant or irreversible. We need to work step by step every day in order to increase trust."
The Chairperson of the CEC of Russia identified three factors that allowed the composition of the CEC of Russia in 2016-2021 to achieve success. First factor - improvement of electoral system, renewal of staff and its training. The second important factor is the adaptation of external influence on the system. The third is the technologization of the electoral process based on modern digital solutions, which has created conditions for maximum transparency of the voting procedure.
"A lot has been done," concluded Ella Pamfilova. "Thank you all so much!"
