On 25 March 2021 Anton Lopatin, a member of the CEC of Russia, took part in the First All-Russian Electoral Expert Forum organized by the Association of Non-Profit Organizations "Independent Public Monitoring".
The main topic of the forum was modern forms and tools of public monitoring of the preparation and conduct of the election campaign for the election of deputies of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation.
"At the present stage elections in Russia are held both in the traditional form and with the use of new digital solutions. New forms of voting and digital services are being actively introduced for all participants of the electoral process. It is natural that in the process of election observation an objective expert assessment is necessary. Therefore, it is important to include experts in the field of digital technologies into the expert community, " said Anton Lopatin during the panel session.
The member of the CEC of Russia also stressed that the expert community has a special role to play, since innovations require an understanding of the participants of the electoral process, and, consequently, a detailed explanation. The legitimacy of the election results depends, among other things, on the level of training of experts.
